Visual Studios Shell support?

May 4, 2011 at 10:36 PM

I do my programming in PowerBuilder 12.1 which is built on the visual studios shell. I have installed MS Visual Source Safe 6, TortoiseSVNSCC, TortoiseHG, and VisualHG. PowerBuilder is recognizing VSS6 and TortoiseSVN as source code control providers, but it is NOT recognizing VisualHG or TortoiseHG. Any ideas on why or what I can do to make VisualHG work in PowerBuilder 12.1?

I'm not sure if there is anthing special about the PowerBuilder, but I just tried VisualHG with a stock Visual Studio 2010 Shell and it works great!

I did like this:

  1. Install stock Visual Studio 2010 Shell and reboot.
  2. Install Mercurial and TortoiseHG.
  3. Install VisualHG.
  4. Start Visual Studio 2010 Shell.
  5. Go to "Tools > Options > Source control" and choose "VisualHG" there. The "HG Pending changes" window will pop-up which means you are good to go :)

In this way I got Visual Studio 2010 Shell + F# + VisualHG combo working.

I appreciate the post, o7g8. Unfortunately, I've discovered that PowerBuilder only supports MSSCCAPI providers, while VisualHG is using the MS SCC Package API.
